IB20 & Final Exams
Two weeks are dedicated to a famous working philosophy called 20% Time which is when employees from Google and other like-minded companies provide time for employees to work on or express a topic of choice and then share that learning back with peers. The concept was developed to encourage creative, innovative thinkers who are passionate about problem-solving complex issues. In our class, students created self-directed project learning experiences that could be carried into the next semester. Additionally, students shared their process with the class for Final Exams as an introduction to next semester's speech curriculum. Students pitched ideas to the class which included a plethora of approaches such as:
Final exams are meant to help students to synthesize what they learn and apply it in a new way. During first semester, the juniors learn how to code...from nearby 4th grade student experts who teach them how to work with Spheros or Dash and Dot robots so they can take literary and literal journey based on the book. During second semester, juniors learn how to showcase everything they knew through a literary cake and food for thought.

- learning how to: prepare an authentic Italian full course meal, crochet, draw, write a spoken word poem, etc.
- researching: Multiple Sclerosis, black holes, the US constitution, architecture, language roots, etc. film, Dyatlov Pass incident, medical field careers, submarines, European vacation, English-Science careers, etc.
- creating: fashion blog, symphony movement for orchestra, DYI videos, art sales website, graphic novel
- doing: CPR certification, shadowing a doctor, exercising, meditating, food critic, reading self-help novels, etc.
